How much does a website cost in Belgium in 2026?

In Belgium, a small business website of three to seven pages costs €650 to €2,660 including VAT, with a median price around €1,080.

Based on the public offers we recorded on 4 October 2026. After that, hosting and a domain name cost €130 to €200 a year.

The answer in three lines

Small business website (three to seven pages)
€650 to €2,660, median €1,080. Rented instead: €59 to €182 a month.
Larger site or online shop
€1,820 to €5,450 for 6 to 12 pages or custom work; €1,210 to €9,680 for a shop.
Every year
€130 to €200 for hosting and domain. A maintenance contract adds €61 to €301 a month.

All amounts in this guide are prices paid, 21% VAT included, unless stated otherwise.

How we got these figures

On 4 October 2026 we recorded the prices published on the websites of 11 providers and tools active in Belgium, mostly in Wallonia.

  • Who: freelancers, studios, agencies, rented-website offers, Wix and a domain registrar.
  • For building a small business website, we kept 6 comparable offers.
How the prices were calculated
  • We took the entry price of each plan, without temporary promotions.
  • Prices excluding VAT were multiplied by 1.21 (the standard 21% rate, source: FPS Finance) to get what a customer pays when they can’t reclaim VAT.
  • When an offer doesn’t say whether VAT is included, we treated it as excluding VAT, the usual practice between businesses. That gives the upper bound.
  • When a provider states that it charges no VAT (exemption scheme), its price is taken as it is.
  • The ranges for building a website and the yearly total for hosting plus domain are rounded to the nearest ten euros.

The ranges are anonymous. The full list of offers, with their addresses, is at the bottom of the page.

What makes the price go up or down

Two quotes of €800 and €2,500 for “a 5-page website” don’t describe the same work. Here is what makes the difference, roughly in order of weight.

  • Custom design or template

A template bought and filled in costs less than a design drawn for your trade. Ask whether you’ll see a mock-up before the build starts.

  • The copy

If you supply the texts, the price drops. If the provider writes them after an interview, expect a few hundred euros more.

  • The number of pages

Every extra page means design, build and text. A serious quote lists the pages one by one.

  • Languages

A site in French and Dutch means twice the text and twice the checks. A human translation costs more than a machine one, and reads better.

  • Photos

Your own photos, a stock library or a photo shoot: the last one is priced separately.

  • Features

Booking, appointments, a price calculator, a customer area: each feature adds set-up and testing time.

  • An online shop

Catalogue, payment, delivery, terms of sale: it’s a different project, hence the price gap.

  • The technology

A WordPress site needs regular updates; a static site needs far fewer. This choice mostly changes the yearly cost.

What a website costs each year, and over three years

A website doesn’t stop at launch. You need at least a domain name (€18 to €57 a year for a .be) and hosting (€116 to €145 a year in our survey).

Many providers include the first year, then charge for renewal.

A WordPress site also needs updates. The maintenance contracts we found cost €61 to €301 a month. Left without updates, WordPress becomes an easy way in for hackers.

The same site over 3 years, VAT included
Bought at the median price, plus hosting and domain€1,470 to €1,680
The same, with maintenance at €61 a month€3,670 to €3,880
Rented website (36 monthly payments)€2,130 to €6,530
Wix, not counting your own time€610 to €1,480

Calculation: median build price (€1,080), plus 3 years of hosting and domain (€130 to €200 a year). Rented site and Wix: 36 months at the recorded prices. Rounded to the nearest ten.

Reading a Belgian quote: excl. VAT, incl. VAT and the exemption scheme

Excl. VAT (HTVA)
Before VAT. Most providers show their prices this way. If you can’t reclaim VAT, add 21%: €1,000 excl. VAT costs you €1,210.
Incl. VAT (TVAC)
VAT included: the amount you actually pay.
Does your business reclaim VAT?
If you are VAT-registered and deduct VAT, the price excluding VAT is what counts for you. Compare quotes excluding VAT. Your accountant will confirm what is deductible in your case.
The small-business exemption scheme
Up to €25,000 in annual turnover excl. VAT, a provider can charge no VAT (FPS Finance). Their displayed price is the price you pay. A VAT-registered customer then has no VAT to reclaim.

Buying or renting: who owns the site?

When you buy a site, it usually becomes yours once the balance is paid, if the contract says so.

When you rent one, it usually stays with the provider: the day you stop paying, the site goes offline, and you may have to start again elsewhere.

Renting isn’t a bad choice if you don’t want to pay upfront. But check the commitment period, what you take with you when you leave, and the total over 3 years.

Either way, get three things in writing.

  • The domain name is registered in your business’s name.
  • You receive the files and the logins: hosting, admin, Google Business Profile.
  • What happens if you stop.

Traps to spot before you sign

  1. The never-ending rented site

A low monthly fee, but no date when the site becomes yours. Over 3 years it often costs more than buying.

  2. The domain in the provider’s name

Your web address and email then depend on them. Insist that your business is the registrant.

  3. No access

You can’t change anything without them, or leave with your files.

  4. A quote with no list of pages

Without a list you can’t tell what’s included or compare two offers. Every addition becomes an extra.

  5. The forgotten yearly cost

Hosting, domain and maintenance after year one: ask for the amount before you sign.

  6. A price excl. VAT read as the final price

For a private person or a business under the exemption scheme, €1,000 excl. VAT becomes €1,210.

Common questions

Is a €500 website a serious option?

It can be, for one to three pages, if you supply the texts and photos and the quote says exactly what you get. Check four things: the list of pages, who owns the domain and the files, what you’ll pay each year, and who answers when something stops working.

Why do some agencies charge €3,000 or more?

An agency bills a team’s time: project management, design, development, copywriting. The price rises with the number of pages, the copy, languages, custom features and support. In our survey, a 6 to 12-page site starts around €4,600 including VAT, and an online shop can approach €9,700.

Does the price include VAT?

Not always. Most providers show prices excluding VAT: add 21% if you can’t reclaim it. A provider under the small-business exemption scheme charges no VAT: the price shown is the price you pay. If an offer doesn’t say, ask before you compare.

How much does a website cost per year?

Hosting and a domain name cost €130 to €200 a year including VAT in our survey. A maintenance contract, mostly useful for a WordPress site, adds €61 to €301 a month. A rented site costs €59 to €182 a month, build and hosting included.

Do I own my website?

If you buy it, usually yes once the balance is paid, if the contract says so. If you rent it, often not: the site stays with the provider. Get three things in writing: the domain name in your business’s name, the handover of files and logins, and what happens if you stop.

Is there any funding in Wallonia?

Some guides still mention the Walloon “digital maturity” business voucher. It has been suspended since 12 July 2026; applications made before that date follow the old rules (source: cheques-entreprises.be). Check that site at the time of your project before counting on any funding.
